Social Groups

Erin Mills United Church invites members of the community to become involved in special interest groups for fellowship and fun. For more information about participating in any of these groups, please contact the church office.

For Women
Women for Women 
This informal group meets about three times a year on an evening convenient to members for discussion, reflection and often a presentation. Group members choose the topics. Past topics have included a visit to a yoga centre for a lesson and potluck, a drumming circle, a presentation on a member’s visit to Peru to investigate the success of micro-credit loans, a discussion of a humanitarian aid trip planned to Ethiopia, and a supportive discussion of stress and mental health issues.

A Circle of Friends 
This group of women meet to share companionship at the church at 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.

Women’s Retreat 
Women are invited to retreat together to a member’s cottage for a weekend of friendship, calmness and reflections on faith.

For Men
Erin Mills United Church Men’s Group 
September to June, men meet for fellowship and enjoyment, socialization and association. Meetings are held the second Saturday of the month at 8 a.m. at the church. Breakfast is shared, followed by a presentation or discussion. Past topics include a trip to China, living in South Africa, and harmonica playing.
 
Daytime Senior Men’s Group 
A group of men, older physically but young mentally, meet at 10 a.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month. The group enjoys talking about current events. Men’s Retreat 
Men are invited to retreat together to a member’s cottage for a weekend of friendship, calmness and reflections on faith. 

Other Social Groups
Book Club 
The book club meets monthly to discuss an eclectic selection of literature ranging from contemporary novels and bestsellers to literary classics. The club also sponsors a lending library at the church. New members are welcome.
 
Bridge and Euchre Club 
This club meets to play on a rotational basis at members’ homes. New members are encouraged and invited to join each fall. There are two parties a year plus nine games which are played like a round robin. Monies raised by the clubs help to fund church projects. To join as a regular or a spare, please contact M. Cairns. Drama Club 
A club meets periodically to express faith through dramas performed during services.
